Past Projects & Partnerships

We are excited to be involved in many projects throughout Haiti.  Here is a glimpse into just a handful of our past projects...

In 2018 DigitalKap completed its first solar microgrid in partnership with EarthSpark International. This microgrid has an operational capacity of 160kW and will provide power to the approximately 20,000 residents of Tiburon, Haiti.  The system was built with SMA technology and utilizes a remote monitoring system, allowing the microgrid’s operations to be monitored from anywhere, 24/7.

U.S. based Holy Trinity Catholic Church contracted DigitalKap to install a brand new solar powered computer lab at St. Raymond School in Ansedeno.  This computer lab features thin client technology that dramatically reduces the power needed to support the lab as well as the physical space required.  The lab can facilitate 30 students at one time.  The solar system installed by DigitalKap at the school not only powers the computer lab but also the entire school, a water pump and provides enough energy to support incoming earning printing services at the school.

DigitalKap worked with Digicel and Habitat for Humanity to complete over 200 solar street light and charging stations in the area of Canaan. The charging stations allow residents to charge their phones for a small fee.  The fees that are collected are then used towards continued maintenance of the lights/charging stations.

DigitalKap was contracted by the Government of Haiti through the Office of Occupational Accident Insurance, Sickness and Maternity (OFATMA) to install a 20kW solar system at the OFATMA Hospital in Aux Cayes, Haiti.  This system provides power to the newly opened dialysis center at the hospital.

In 2014, DigitalKap partnered with Digicel Foundation to install a 2.5 KW solar system at Ecole Nationale Charles Moravia in Jacmel.

Later in 2014 DigitalKap worked again with Digicel Foundation on a 5 KW solar system at Ecole Grande Savanne in Saut D'Eau.

Founded in 2011, the National School of Grande Savane was the last to be selected by Digicel Foundation to complete its goal of building 150 schools across Haiti.

DigitalKap was engaged in a long-term partnership with NRG Energy, one of the top solar companies in the world, to bring solar to Haiti.  DigitalKap installed 300 kWs for NRG, allowing NRG’s beneficiaries to save up to $189,248.40 a year on energy costs.  These beneficiaries are projected to see up to $4,177,452.00 net savings over the life span of their systems.

Beginning in 2013, Digitalkap worked with the U.S. nonprofit Happy Hearts Fund on a variety of solar installations in schools throughout the country.  One of these schools was Ecole Nouvelle Zoranje in Cite Soleil, Port- au- Prince in which a 25 kW system was installed to power the school’s classroom and new, fully equipped computer lab.

"DigitalKap does an excellent job from project conceptualization through installation and ongoing support. All of the company’s staff conduct themselves in a very professional manner and with excellent communication." -Laura Giannini, Director of Program Development,

Happy Hearts Fund

DigitalKap worked with the Haitian government, through FAES, in 2013, to bring a cohesive energy solution to government buildings in the North and Central Plateau.  City government buildings successfully made the transition from generator based power to solar power.  This system has run smoothly and effectively for 5 years with no interruptions or concerns.
